### Description

Beside having a Homepage Configuration, also Context Aware Configuration (CAC) is possible, using multiple Configuration Pages.

- Homepage Configuration Page for General Configurations
- Additional Configuration Pages for Context Aware Configuration (CAC)
- Be careful of Using or Deleting Configuration Pages

#### Be Aware: Do NOT delete CAC Pages!

CAC Pages must not get deleted before Reseting custom Configurations back to Default.

### Adding a Configuration Page

Editor needs to add a Configuration Page like a [Normal Page](/content/foundationNG/en/aem-basics/page-handling.html).

Therefore, Editor need to choose an existing Page (one Level higher then the Configuration Page should be placed) and click on its Title, so it is highlighted.

Then, click on "Create" Button and choose "Page" to create a Page on next Level of Hierarchie.

Afterwards, Editor needs to choose the **Page Template "Configuration Page"**, click on Next Button, and set at least a Title (used for Tab Name in Browser).

### Homepage Configuration Pages

The Homepage Configuration Pages is placed on same Hierarchical Level as the Homepage itself.

If Editor opens the Homepage Configuration Page, Configurations can be added via Click on Add and selecting Configuration from Dropdown in opening Dialog.

![Add Configuration to Configuration Page - Part 2](https://www.eonshowroom.eon.com/cdm-assets/is/image/eon/config_02%3A2-1?fmt=webp)

### Multiple Configuration Pages - Context Aware Configuration (CAC)

A Configuration Pages for Context Aware Configuration (CAC) is placed one Hierarchical Level below the Page that should have other Configurations as other Pages.

This Configuration Page will affect the Page one Hierarchical Level before, as well as on same Hierarchie Level and all afterwards, till it is changed by another Configuration Page.

A Configuration Page can be maintained in same Way as the Homepage Configuration Page itself. If Editor opens the Configuration Page, Configurations can be added via Click on Add and selecting Configuration from Dropdown in opening Dialog.

#### Keep in Mind

- A Configuration Page affects Parent Page, all Pages on same Hierarchical Level and all Child Pages
- If having individual Configrations, then it is HIGHLY recommended to delete these individual Configs on Configuration Page first BEFORE deleting the Config Page.
- The open Brace of each Config on Configuration Page indicates that this Configuration differs to the one of the Configuration Page in the higher Level of Hierarchie.

### Effective Range of a Configuration Page

A Configuration Page will affect the Page one Hierarchical Level before, as well as on same Hierarchie Level and all afterwards, till it is changed by another Configuration Page. So, general Configurations should be done in Homepage Configuration. Only if there are Configuration Changes that should not affect all of your Pages, use CACs!

For individual Configurations

A Context Aware Configuration (CAC) Page will affect the Page one Hierarchical Level before, as well as on same Hierarchie Level and all afterwards, till it is changed by another Configuration Page. Therefore, only if there are Configuration Changes that should not affect all of your Pages, use CACs!

### About the most important Configuration Options

For Editing a Configuration, Editor first needs to select it from Dropdown (if it is not already in the List).

As far as it is added to the Configuration List on the Configuration Page, it can be opened by Clicking on it.

Then the Link "Click here to break Inheritance" needs to be clicked, and "Enable Property Inheritance" must be unchecked. If Configuration was newly added to the List, this is already done.

Afterwards, Editing is possible. Do not forget to save the Configurations individually, using Save Button on Top of Page.
