# Tagging

# Tag Taxonomie

Tagging is a generic AEM Feature that is used for Filtering Pages or Experience Fragments.

Tagging is used for Example in Components like [Google Maps](https://dev-www.eonshowroom.eon.com/en/specials/google-maps.html) and [Content Aggregator](https://dev-www.eonshowroom.eon.com/en/specials/content-aggregator.html) in the Foundation Component Set.

- Create own Tags
- Filter Content Aggregator Items using Tags
- Filter Project Maps Items using Tags

### Placement of Tags

When Editor is on Start Page of the AEM Environment, it is necessary to first open the Tools from Icon on left Sidebar. Afterwards, Tagging can be selected from the Tools Overview. This opens the Path where Tags are stored.

#### Keep in Mind

Additional Namespaces can be added 1, but please only use the one of your Solution and do not create new Ones if not neccessary. Structuring of Tags can better be done by using Tags that contain Tags.

1 A new Namespace can be added by clicking on "Create" Button, choosing "Create Namespace" from Dropdown, and filling at least the Title in opening Dialog. Then, it can be confirmed.

### Tagging Area

In Tagging Area all Tags and Namespaces can be added and maintained. The first Column contains the different Namespaces (there should be at least one for per Solution). In these Namespaces multiple Tags can be added.

#### Keep in Mind

For Structuring Tags it is possible to add Tags a Hierarchical Level after another Tag (comparable as it works for Pages).

### Creation of Tags

A new Tag can be added by clicking on Create Button, choosing Create Tag from Dropdown, and filling at least the Title in opening Dialog. But also Name and Description can be maintained. Then, it can be confirmed by clicking on Submit Button.

### Maintaining a Tag

When a Tag is created, it can be selected by clicking on Checkbox before the Tag. Then, in Top Bar, multiple Options are available. These are:

- Create Tag

This creates a new Tag in next Hierarchical Level.

- Edit

When Editing a Tag, a Dialog opens, where Title, Description, and Icon can be maintained. The Icon is needed if Tag is used in [Project Map](/content/foundationNG/en/specials/google-maps.html) Filters.

Furthermore, multiple Languages can be added, by Selecting needed Language from Languages Dropdown and fill appearing Textfield for each of it (should be name of the Tag in choosen language). The Language Version can also be deleted, by using the Button with Minus (**-**) Icon on it.

**Keep in Mind:**

If no Language Version is created for a Tag, then the Tag Title is used instead. Language Versions are only needed for Multi Language Websites like [www.eon.com](https://www.eon.com/)

- Move

Move Option opens a Dialog, where Editor can rename the Tag or choose a different Path for it.

- Merge

In Merge Dialog, Editor can choose where to merge the Tag into.

- Publish

Tags, that should be usable on Published Pages, need to be published as well.

- Unpublish

It is also possible to unpublish an already published Tag.

- Delete

A Tag can also be deleted, but first ensure it is not used in any Component.

### Using Tags

Tags can be used in some Components, like [Google Maps](/content/foundationNG/en/specials/google-maps.html) and [Content Aggregator](/content/foundationNG/en/specials/content-aggregator.html), e.g. for Filtering Content.

Therefore, Editor can select Tags in "AND" or "OR" Field. In "**AND**" Field, **all** of the selected Tags must be matched, while in "**OR**" field **any** of the selected Tags must be matched.
