### Description

Images are needed for many Components.

WebP Image Optimization is a Technique for compressing Images in the WebP Format to reduce File Size and improve Webpage Loading Times.

It is a Format that offers better Compression than traditional Image Formats like JPEG and PNG.

By using WebP Optimization Techniques, Images can be loaded faster without losing Quality, which can help improve the User Experience on a Website.

- The Standard Quality in AEM is set to 50% - This is a good Compromize between Page Performance and Image Quality
- Editor can adjust Image Loading Width per Image
- Editor can adjust Image Quality centrally via CA-Config or per Image

##### DO's

- Always crop the Image.
- Always check it on all Viewports.
- Think about Page Performance vs. Image Quality: 50% Quality is a good Compromize between Page Performance and Image Quality

##### DONT's

- Do not use WebP Quality and Width on individual Images to often as we recommend a General Configuration in FoundationNg Site Config

## Configuration

### General Configuration in CAC

For WebP Image Optimization it is possible to define the default WebP Image Quality in FoundationNg Site Config.

The Standard is set to 50. This is a good Compromize between Page Performance and Image Quality.

If better Performance is wanted, it could be reduced to 40, which results in lower Image Quality. For High Quality Images 70 or 80 can be set, having negative Impact on Performance.

### Configuration for WebP

Editor can adjust WebP Options per Image and Viewport, if not Default Configuration of FoundationNg Site Config should be used.

It is possible to select Image Quality and WebP Image Width on each Image Tab.

Furthermore, WebP can be disabled. When WebP is disabled, then the normal Image (.jpg, .png, etc.) will be used.
